4 Best treatments for postpartum hair loss

So you’ve had the baby! Congratulations! And now your body is slowly going back to normal as those pregnancy hormones subside – and your hair is, too.

According to WhattoExpect.com, the average person loses roughly 100 hairs a day, but during pregnancy, your body holds onto those. It’s natural that when the pregnancy hormones drop back down, those hairs drop, too.

That lush, thick mane you developed through pregnancy will start to thin out – perhaps too much!

For one Sojourn Beauty fan, the idea of losing some hair wasn’t so bad – until it was. Here’s what Jess had to say:

When I heard of the dreaded post-partum hair loss after giving birth, I was honestly ecstatic. My hair has always been unimaginably thick and heavy. I frequently had to get my hair thinned out just so I wouldn’t get headaches from the weight of it.

Once four months postpartum hit, I was unfazed by how much hair I was losing, which, to any other person, would be concerning. Anytime I washed or brushed my hair, clumps would fall out. I’m sure it looked like I groomed a small dog in my shower when I was done!

Five months passed by, and I was content how much my hair had thinned out. Six months in, I was starting to get nervous. I was starting to see my scalp, and my hair line was receding. I was talking about my hair loss with a good friend of mine, and he introduced me to Sojourn hair products.

I admit, at first I was skeptical. But, after just my first wash of Sojourn Moisture Shampoo and Moisture Conditioner, my hair was already silkier and more manageable. Even my husband started using it! (He claims his hair is more luxurious as he flips his hair from side to side, batting his eyelashes!)

I also had used the Sojourn Monoi Oil, on not just my hair, but my tattoos and my baby’s cradle cap! It smelled amazing, kept my hair tame, brought out the color of my faded tattoos, and tamed my daughter’s dry, flaky scalp. After several weeks of use, I noticed my hair loss slowing down, and even a halo of new growth — which is in a problem in itself of crazy looking fly-aways – which I probably will look to more Sojourn products to tame!

Thanks for sharing, Jess! We’re glad you saw such good results with Sojourn Moisture products and Monoi Oil. We love it, too!

Other tips to keep the postpartum hair loss tame include:

1. Go easy on the styling. Sojourn’s Leave-In Detangler helps make combing easier!

2. Eat well, including a variety of fruits, vegetables, and healthy proteins.

3. Be extra gentle and use quality shampoo – and you don’t have to spend a fortune! Sojourn Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner is a great combo for moms of all ages. It won’t dry out your hair, and – added bonus – it’s great even on oily, greasy hair!

Our exclusive blend of Keratin Cashmere and Cystine penetrates essential amino acid nutrients deep into the hair’s cuticle to maximize hydration and restore hair’s luster. Our low pH (4.5-5.5) helps close the cuticle to restructure chemical bonds and return hair to its natural state for clean, beautiful, shiny, soft, healthy looking hair!

4. Of course if you’re concerned about your hair loss, see your practitioner. When accompanied with other symptoms, it could be a sign of something else.
